Bulk - 80/20 Sandy Loam

80/20 sandy loam is a deliberately sand-dominant blend — roughly 80% washed sand to 20% loam — formulated as a turf underlay and topdressing soil. The high sand content is what makes it drain, resist compaction under foot traffic and screed dead flat.

What it's used for

• Instant turf underlay — the prepared layer roll-on lawn is laid onto
• Topdressing established lawn — levelling hollows and smoothing surfaces
• Sports fields and high-traffic turf where compaction is the enemy
• Levelling before synthetic turf

How much to order

For new turf, allow 75–100mm of underlay — about 1m³ per 10m². For topdressing an existing lawn, 10–15mm is plenty: 1m³ covers around 70–100m².

Landscaper's tip: Topdress in thin passes and drag it in with a lute or level lawn. Burying the leaf blade under one thick application is how you kill a lawn while trying to level it.
