Bulk - Organic Loam

Organic Loam is the general-purpose growing soil — a screened sandy loam blended with organic matter. It's the middle ground between raw fill and a premium garden mix: good enough to grow in, economical enough to use by the cubic metre.

What it's used for

• New garden beds and bulk bed filling
• Lawn preparation — the underlay layer before turf is laid
• Levelling and reshaping lawn areas and garden contours
• Backfilling around new planting

How much to order

One cubic metre covers 10m² at 100mm, or 20m² at 50mm. For turf underlay, 75–100mm of loam over a prepared, weed-free subgrade is the usual specification.

Landscaper's tip: Rip or turn the existing subgrade before spreading loam over it. Loam laid straight onto compacted clay creates a shear plane — roots stop dead at the boundary.
