Bulk - PM2/20 Quarry Rubble

PM2/20 quarry rubble is the base course almost every job in Adelaide starts with. Crushed and graded from 20mm down to dust, the fines lock the larger stone together so that once it's spread, watered and rolled it behaves like a solid slab rather than a pile of loose rock.

What it's used for

• Driveways and crossovers — the compacted layer beneath concrete, asphalt or pavers
• Shed and garage slabs — a stable, free-draining pad that won't settle unevenly
• Paving and retaining — base under segmental paving and behind retaining walls
• Hardstand and yard areas — a durable trafficable surface on its own

How much to order

Rubble weighs roughly 1.6 tonne per cubic metre compacted. As a rule of thumb, a 100mm base over 10m² needs about 1.6 tonne. Allow a little extra for compaction — material typically loses 15–20% of its loose volume once it's rolled.

Yard tip: Spread in layers no thicker than 100mm and wet each layer before compacting. One pass with a plate compactor on damp rubble beats five passes on dry.
