20mm quartz aggregate is the standard coarse aggregate for general concrete work. The larger stone size means less cement paste per cubic metre, which makes for a stronger, more economical mix in anything thicker than about 100mm.
About 1.5 tonne per cubic metre. A typical 1:2:3 concrete mix uses roughly 1 tonne of 20mm aggregate per cubic metre of finished concrete.
Yard tip: Use 20mm for slabs 100mm and thicker. In thin sections or heavily reinforced work, drop to 10mm so the stone can move around the steel.
Priced per tonne, delivered across metropolitan Adelaide, GST included. We place the load where you actually need it rather than dropping it at the kerb — that's the difference between a morning of barrowing and none. Order online, or call the yard on (08) 8443 9533 if you'd like a hand working out quantities.
