If you want the clean, premium look of a freshly mulched garden but your soil is desperately crying out for nutrients, Jeffries Recover Mulch is the ultimate compromise. Widely regarded as Adelaide’s most popular home garden mulch, this clever blend is designed to be more than just a decorative top-layer—it actively feeds your garden from the top down.
Jeffries Recover blends clean, recycled timber chips with fully mature Jeffries Organic Compost, and then supercharges the mix with Blood & Bone. It is the perfect "double-action" product for lazy gardeners and pros alike, providing the protective barrier of a heavy-duty mulch while acting as a slow-release soil conditioner.
Built-In Organic Fertiliser: Infused with Blood & Bone, it delivers a slow, steady release of essential Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Calcium to give tired plants a noticeable growth boost.
Established Garden Beds: The absolute go-to for refreshing older gardens that need a nutrient injection without the back-breaking labor of tilling.
Veggie Patches & Fruit Trees: Ideal for heavy-feeding plants that crave consistent moisture and regular doses of organic nitrogen and calcium.
Pre-Summer Garden Prep: Apply in spring to trap winter moisture and shield your garden beds ahead of intense heatwaves.
Clear the Area: Remove any existing prominent weeds from the garden bed.
Layer It On: Spread Jeffries Recover Mulch evenly over the soil surface to a recommended depth of 50mm to 75mm.
Give It Space: Keep a small 2-3cm gap between the mulch and the direct base or trunks of your plants/trees to prevent moisture rot.
Water It In: Water heavily right after application. This helps settle the mulch, locks the pieces together to prevent wind-drift, and activates the slow-release nutrients so they begin trickling down into the root zone.
Pro-Tip: If you have an automated garden setup, always ensure your irrigation drip lines sit underneath the mulch layer. This ensures water goes directly into the soil instead of getting trapped and evaporated by the mulch itself!
