A soil spreader takes the barrow-and-rake stage out of a topdressing or underlay job. Load it, walk it, and it lays material at an even depth across the area — far faster and far flatter than shovelling.

Sizing the job

Best used with a free-draining material like 80/20 sandy loam. Wet or heavy soil will bridge in the hopper.

Yard tip: Spread when the material is dry. A tonne of damp loam will clog a spreader in about four metres and you'll spend the hire period clearing it.
